Independence Day

Yes, July 4th is Independence Day and we know the significance of the day with respect to the birth of our nation.   The day has given me pause to think of the meaning of independence with regard to where our nation sits in 2018.

Though we have thrown off the shackles of oppression from the British we certainly know that none of us, nor our states or the nation as a whole are totally independent from the abundance and ability to share with others.   In fact our ability to 'depend' on others - be they individuals, immigrants, nations, etc. - might in fact allow us to maintain our liberties and independence.

It is the strength of others which adds to our growth.    On this Independence Day, and others to come, it must continue to be our story of welcoming others and finding common cause that will stand us in good stead. It behooves us to stay on the path of working with others and depending on them.   It has served us well for nearly 250 years.
